Watercolor II: Portrait

Each workshop is one three hour session held on a Saturday from 10AM to 1PM; choose from the dates below:
June 22nd
This workshop highlights watercolor as a medium for expressing skin and representing the human head. Students will learn how to mix skin tone accurately without the use of white paint. In watercolor we avoid using white because it is opaque rather than transparent, here students will learn to see and mix a range of colors to convey light and shadow in any skin tone, under any light. Focus will be given to replicating the textures of skin and hair through this complex medium employing techniques such as wet on wet, wet on dry, dry on dry and overlaying washes to visually communicate different parts of the face.
(*** Introduction to Watercolor is a recommended prerequisite to this course, and drawing experience is also recommended. ***)
Additional materials fee (payable in cash at the workshop): $10 materials fee includes: brushes, paper, and watercolors.
